AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 53

    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 53 on page 2, by 
3
replacing lines 10 through 21 with the following:
4
    "(g-10) "Contagious or infectious disease" means a 
5
specific disease designated by the Illinois Department of 
6
Agriculture as contagious or infectious under rules pertaining 
7
to the Illinois Diseased Animals Act."; and

 
8
on page 3, by replacing lines 10 through 12 with the following:
9
    ""Endangering the food supply" does not include bona fide 
10
experiments and actions related to those experiments carried on 
11
by commonly recognized research facilities or actions by 
12
agricultural producers and animal health professionals who may 
13
inadvertently contribute to the spread of detrimental 
14
biological agents while employing generally acceptable 
15
management practices."; and
 
16
on page 3, line 18, by inserting after the period the 
17
following:
18
""Endangering the water supply" does not include contamination 
19
of a public or private well or water reservoir
or any water 
20
supply of a public utility that may occur inadvertently
as part 
21
of the operation of  a public utility or electrical generating 
22
station."; and
 
23
on page 4, line 12, by inserting after "fuel" the following:

"(except for acts that occur inadvertently and as the result of

operation of the facility that produces or distributes 
3
electricity,
gas, oil, or other fuel)".
