Amends the State Employee Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides the alternative (State police) retirement formula for certain automotive mechanics employed by the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority who are assigned to retrieve or repair State vehicles on State highways or tollways and certain sign hangers employed by the Department of Transportation. In provisions concerning the alternative retirement formula, removes references to obsolete job designations of the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority. <SynopsisText>The fiscal impact of HB 1814 (H-AM 1) cannot be calculated, as the exact number of employees affected is not known. According to SERS' actuary, switching one employee from the regular formula to the alternative formula would increase the system's accrued liabilities between $7,000 and $185,000, depending upon the member's pay and years of service.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>State Mandates Fiscal Note (H-AM 1)(Dept. of Commerce and Economic Opportunity)</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>In the opinion of the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, HB 1814 (H-AM 1) does not create a State mandate under the State Mandates Act.</SynopsisText><synopsistitle>Fiscal Note (H-AM 1) (State Retirement Systems)</synopsistitle>
<SynopsisText>This bill would increase state contributions by $9.5 million.</SynopsisText></synopsis>
