| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of Dr. Jorge Cavero Sr. on |
| 4 |
| Friday, November 26, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Cavero was born in Cochabamba, Bolivia; he |
| 6 |
| studied medicine at the Universidad Mayo de San Andres, La Paz, |
| 7 |
| Bolivia; he then practiced in Bolivia and taught medical |
| 8 |
| students at the Asistencia Publica; many of those students |
| 9 |
| later became close professional colleagues when he moved to the |
| 10 |
| United States; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, In the United States, Dr. Cavero trained at Little |
| 12 |
| Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park; he practiced for 35 |
| 13 |
| years and with his son formed the Cavero Medical Group, serving |
| 14 |
| the Southwest Chicago community; he was on staff at Little |
| 15 |
| Company of Mary Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, and South |
| 16 |
| Chicago Hospital; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Dr. Cavero loved his work and dedicated countless |
| 18 |
| hours to his patients including indigents in both Bolivia and |
| 19 |
| the United States; it is this passion for his work that led his |
| 20 |
| three children to pursue careers in medicine; Dr. Jorge Cavero |
| 21 |
| Jr. is an Internist in Chicago; Dr. Patricia Cavero is a |
| 22 |
| Cardiologist in San Francisco, California; and Dr. Fernando |
| 23 |
| Cavero, an Emergency Medicine physician; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, In Bolivia, he played competitive basketball, and |
| 25 |
| as a part of Bolivian National Team, he participated in the |
| 26 |
| Pan-American Games in Uruguay; throughout his life, he |
| 27 |
| continued to be an avid sportsman; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Dr Jorge Cavero Sr. has been deeply |
| 29 |
| felt by many, especially his wife of 50 years, Blanca; his |
| 30 |
| three children, Dr. Jorge Cavero Jr., Dr. Patricia Cavero, and |
