| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The Senate marks with profound sadness the passing |
| 3 |
| of Mr. William P. "Bill" Wozniak, who gave his life as a |
| 4 |
| Secretary of State security guard at the Capitol in |
| 5 |
| Springfield, Illinois, on September 20, 2004; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, An outgoing man whose friendly manner was keenly |
| 7 |
| appreciated by Capitol workers and visitors alike, Mr. Wozniak |
| 8 |
| served as a State House security guard for the past 18 years; |
| 9 |
| and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wozniak was born on June 29, 1953, in Detroit, |
| 11 |
| Michigan, the youngest of 6 children of William and Anna Laura |
| 12 |
| Gillmore Wozniak, and after attending Detroit schools he was |
| 13 |
| employed in public works there until he visited relatives in |
| 14 |
| Petersburg, Illinois; and |
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, He made Petersburg his home, and before becoming a |
| 16 |
| State employee he worked for Fiat Allis-Chalmers and performed |
| 17 |
| as Yogi Bear at the Jellystone Campground; and |
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, In 1986, Mr. Wozniak married Sheila Wilkin in |
| 19 |
| Springfield, and together they shared the joys and challenges |
| 20 |
| of raising 2 wonderful children, Marc and Megan; his devotion |
| 21 |
| to his family was exceeded only by the pride and pleasure he |
| 22 |
| took in their accomplishments; and |
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Wozniak's generous nature, coupled with his |
| 24 |
| vast aptitude for nearly all things mechanical, earned him a |
| 25 |
| reputation as a friend who would help tackle projects involving |
| 26 |
| anything from cars to plumbing; and
|
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, During his career with the State, Mr. Wozniak |
| 28 |
| displayed a professional competence and an affability towards |
| 29 |
| his colleagues that won the respect of all who had the honor of |
