| SENATE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois |
| 3 |
| learned with regret of the death of John J. Sexton of Chicago |
| 4 |
| on Wednesday, January 28, 2004; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sexton, a lifelong Democratic party |
| 6 |
| volunteer, knocked on doors and responded to constituent |
| 7 |
| requests for virtually every neighborhood alderman since he was |
| 8 |
| 16, working his way up to serve as a precinct captain; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In his first city job, Mr. Sexton tested car |
| 10 |
| emissions; he went on to work at the Water Department as a |
| 11 |
| machinist and retired in June of 2003 as the superintendent of |
| 12 |
| water meters; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sexton married Rosetta in 1972; he was devoted |
| 14 |
| to his family, eager to help with housework and repairs, and |
| 15 |
| never forgot a birthday or anniversary; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of John J. Sexton has been deeply felt |
| 17 |
| by many, especially his wife, Rosetta; his daughters, Laurie |
| 18 |
| Moran and Diana; his son, John Jr.; and his sister, Mary Kay |
| 19 |
| Kuhter; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL |
| 21 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 22 |
| Mr. John J. Sexton, and we extend our deepest sympathy to his |
| 23 |
| friends, family, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 24 |
| further
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 26 |
| presented to the family of Mr. Sexton as an expression of our |
| 27 |
| sincere condolences for their loss.
