HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are pleased to recognize milestone events for businesses associated with the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1904 by A.J. Hartig, Hartig Drug Company has provided a century of service to many communities; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company is the second oldest family owned chain in the United States; it is privately held; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has a long tradition of recognizing the talents and abilities of its employees; it was one of the first drug stores to employ a woman as a pharmacist/store manager at a time when it was rare to see women in top management positions; this tradition continues today with a large percentage of Hartig's top management comprised of women; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has fifteen stores located in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois, including traditional drug stores and a long-term pharmacy; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company provides durable medical equipment, medical supplies, and oxygen to customers through Finley-Hartig Homecare in a joint venture with a local hospital; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company and its employees are actively involved in the communities they serve; many charitable and community-based organizations have benefited from financial donations and gifts of time and service by Hartig Drug Company and its staff; and

WHEREAS, Throughout its century of service, Hartig Drug Company has focused on its customers; Hartig maintains a direct line of communication with its customers using its "If you'll talk, we'll listen" program; all customer comments are personally reviewed by Keith Bibelhausen, President of Hartig Drug Company; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company embraces improved technologies to maintain a high level of service to its customers, and to meet high standards of quality assurance; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has established pharmacy scholarships to encourage talented students to pursue a career in pharmacy; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company is proud of its staff of knowledgeable and caring pharmacists and certified technicians and of the friendly, helpful staff members serving their friends and neighbors at the checkouts and service counters; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has many long-term employees who have been with the company for 15 years or more; several employees have been with Hartig for more than 40 years; and

WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company is led by third generation family member Dick Hartig, owner and CEO, and by Keith Bibelhausen, President, both of whom are pharmacists; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Hartig Drug Company on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hartig Drug Company as an expression of our respect and esteem.
