| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are |
| 3 |
| pleased to recognize milestone events for businesses |
| 4 |
| associated with the State of Illinois; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Founded in 1904 by A.J. Hartig, Hartig Drug |
| 6 |
| Company has provided a century of service to many communities; |
| 7 |
| and |
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company is the second oldest family |
| 9 |
| owned chain in the United States; it is privately held; and |
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has a long tradition of |
| 11 |
| recognizing the talents and abilities of its employees; it was |
| 12 |
| one of the first drug stores to employ a woman as a |
| 13 |
| pharmacist/store manager at a time when it was rare to see |
| 14 |
| women in top management positions; this tradition continues |
| 15 |
| today with a large percentage of Hartig's top management |
| 16 |
| comprised of women; and |
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has fifteen stores located in |
| 18 |
| Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois, including traditional drug |
| 19 |
| stores and a long-term pharmacy; and |
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company provides durable medical |
| 21 |
| equipment, medical supplies, and oxygen to customers through |
| 22 |
| Finley-Hartig Homecare in a joint venture with a local |
| 23 |
| hospital; and |
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company and its employees are actively |
| 25 |
| involved in the communities they serve; many charitable and |
| 26 |
| community-based organizations have benefited from financial |
| 27 |
| donations and gifts of time and service by Hartig Drug Company |
| 28 |
| and its staff; and |

| WHEREAS, Throughout its century of service, Hartig Drug |
| 2 |
| Company has focused on its customers; Hartig maintains a direct |
| 3 |
| line of communication with its customers using its "If you'll |
| 4 |
| talk, we'll listen" program; all customer comments are |
| 5 |
| personally reviewed by Keith Bibelhausen, President of Hartig |
| 6 |
| Drug Company; and |
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company embraces improved |
| 8 |
| technologies to maintain a high level of service to its |
| 9 |
| customers, and to meet high standards of quality assurance; and |
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has established pharmacy |
| 11 |
| scholarships to encourage talented students to pursue a career |
| 12 |
| in pharmacy; and |
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company is proud of its staff of |
| 14 |
| knowledgeable and caring pharmacists and certified technicians |
| 15 |
| and of the friendly, helpful staff members serving their |
| 16 |
| friends and neighbors at the checkouts and service counters; |
| 17 |
| and |
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company has many long-term employees |
| 19 |
| who have been with the company for 15 years or more; several |
| 20 |
| employees have been with Hartig for more than 40 years; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Hartig Drug Company is led by third generation |
| 22 |
| family member Dick Hartig, owner and CEO, and by Keith |
| 23 |
| Bibelhausen, President, both of whom are pharmacists; |
| 24 |
| therefore, be it |
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 26 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 27 |
| congratulate Hartig Drug Company on the occasion of its 100th |
| 28 |
| anniversary; and be it further
