HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives recognize the courageous efforts of the Addison Fire Department; and

WHEREAS, On October 20, 2004, the Addison Fire Department was called to respond to a gas leak; and

WHEREAS, The actions and efforts of the firemen prevented serious injury when the Walgreens in Addison, Illinois exploded; and

WHEREAS, The gas buildup in the store before the explosion caused windows to be blown out and the roof to catch fire; and

WHEREAS, Three of Addison's fine firemen were injured in the explosion and suffered from various burns; and

WHEREAS, The surrounding area had to be evacuated to prevent further injuries to local residents; and

WHEREAS, The fast response and hard work of the firemen helped them control the blaze until all gas lines could be turned off; and

WHEREAS, The firemen never wavered in their bravery while battling the aftermath of the explosion; and

WHEREAS, These individuals work every day to protect our homes and businesses from fire; and

WHEREAS, We are proud to call these individuals our friends and protectors; and

WHEREAS, The firemen of the Fire Department of Addison continue to put residents' lives ahead of their own safety while protecting the village; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the bravery of the Addison Fire Department; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Fire Chief Kreft and the Addison Fire Department's firemen for their courageous actions.
