| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the |
| 3 |
| State of Illinois were deeply saddened to learn of the death of |
| 4 |
| Army Sergeant Jack Hennessy on October 1, 2004 in Baghdad, |
| 5 |
| Iraq; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy was assigned to the Army's 1st |
| 7 |
| Cavalry Division; and |
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy was killed during a gun battle |
| 9 |
| while monitoring a traffic checkpoint; and |
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy moved to Naperville with his |
| 11 |
| family in 1991 and attended Maplebrook Elementary School and |
| 12 |
| Lincoln Junior High; and |
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy played soccer and competed in |
| 14 |
| gymnastics and wrestling, qualifying in his junior year for the |
| 15 |
| Illinois High School Association boys gymnastics state |
| 16 |
| championships; and |
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy was known to be funny, outgoing, |
| 18 |
| and a class-clown who liked 80's music, foam trucker hats, |
| 19 |
| goofy t-shirts and funny movies; and |
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy enlisted in the Army as a senior |
| 21 |
| in high school and began service after graduating from |
| 22 |
| Naperville Central High School in Naperville in 2001; and |
| 23 |
| WHEREAS, After Sergeant Hennessy enlisted in the military, |
| 24 |
| his family watched as the young man evolved from an active, |
| 25 |
| precocious child into a mature, determined leader whose first |
| 26 |
| priority was to serve his country; and |
| 27 |
| WHEREAS, Sergeant Hennessy was proud to serve his country |
