| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to recognize the Edgewater Chamber of |
| 4 |
| Commerce on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary of |
| 5 |
| service to its community; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, It was founded as the East Edgewater Chamber of |
| 7 |
| Commerce and had its roots in the North Edgewater Business |
| 8 |
| Association founded by Robert Kahnweiler, Fair Hardware and |
| 9 |
| Gifts, Michael Harrington, Barr Funeral Home, and David Mann of |
| 10 |
| Mann Furniture; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Edgewater is a highly diverse community and the |
| 12 |
| Chamber includes members from around the world; board members |
| 13 |
| include persons of varied heritage including British, Chinese, |
| 14 |
| Ethiopian, German, Greek, Hispanic, Irish, Jewish, Middle |
| 15 |
| Eastern, Polish, and South American; and
|
| 16 |
| WHEREAS, The Edgewater Chamber of Commerce is one of the |
| 17 |
| largest neighborhood chambers in Chicago in size, geography, |
| 18 |
| population of customers, and percentage of membership; and
|
| 19 |
| WHEREAS, The Chamber will begin to administer its first |
| 20 |
| Special Service Area in
the 48th Ward portion of Edgewater; it |
| 21 |
| includes five different Tax Increment Financing Districts and |
| 22 |
| four elevated stations; a new fire station will soon be under |
| 23 |
| construction in the 6000 block of North Clark Street replacing |
| 24 |
| two out-of-date stations; the Chamber serves portions of three |
| 25 |
| wards and two police districts; therefore, be it
|
| 26 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 27 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 28 |
| congratulate the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce as it celebrates |
| 29 |
| 20 years of outstanding contributions to its
community, and we |
| 30 |
| wish it continued success in the future;
