| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of Barbara |
| 4 |
| Yurgaitis; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Cary, Barbara Yurgaitis |
| 6 |
| served for the past sixteen years as a public health official |
| 7 |
| for McHenry County where she focused her efforts on disease |
| 8 |
| prevention and educational programs; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, In 1974, she received a bachelor's degree from |
| 10 |
| Lewis University, where she majored in Spanish; and
|
| 11 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Yurgaitis joined the McHenry County Health |
| 12 |
| Department in 1988 after serving for many years as an educator |
| 13 |
| who taught English as a second language at McHenry County |
| 14 |
| College and supervising teachers learning to teach the class; |
| 15 |
| she also worked for the Illinois Migrant Council for a year in |
| 16 |
| the mid 1970s; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, In 1994, she was in charge of the first state- |
| 18 |
| mandated program to identify health concerns in the county; the |
| 19 |
| task, repeated in 1999, required involvement with many |
| 20 |
| community groups; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Ms. Yurgaitis rose to become the administrative |
| 22 |
| manager for the department and coordinated all of its |
| 23 |
| employment, planning, and communication; and
|
| 24 |
| WHEREAS, Barbara Yurgaitis imparts a legacy of |
| 25 |
| faithfulness, service, and dignity; her passing will be deeply |
| 26 |
| felt by many, especially her son, Peter; her two daughters, |
| 27 |
| Katie Hanus and Christie; her sister, Jann Patton; and her |
| 28 |
| grandson; therefore, be it
