| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives wish to congratulate Margaret Haefliger on |
| 4 |
| being named Women of the Year by the Altrusa International Club |
| 5 |
| of Elgin; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Marge Haefliger is a dynamic woman of varied |
| 7 |
| talents and interest; she has been a staff nurse at Sherman |
| 8 |
| Hospital in Elgin for the past 32 years and a staff nurse at |
| 9 |
| Fox Valley's Women's Health Care for the past 10 years; her |
| 10 |
| professional career includes her position as visiting nurse and |
| 11 |
| home care for Sherman Home Health and Gloria Kersten Home Care |
| 12 |
| Agency; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, For the past 25 years, Marge's care for the |
| 14 |
| elderly has been very important to her; she worked with |
| 15 |
| movement and activity programs at area nursing homes to keep |
| 16 |
| the elderly active and on-the-move; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Marge has held a number of leadership roles in |
| 18 |
| many local organizations, she is often the one who is the |
| 19 |
| "glue" behind the scenes, making things run smoothly without a |
| 20 |
| lot of public recognition and fanfare; and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Her social work and volunteerism since the 1960s |
| 22 |
| has been extensive; most recently, she served as a Big Sister |
| 23 |
| to a young girl and remains close with the family since their |
| 24 |
| recent move out of the area; she has been a reading tutor at |
| 25 |
| Elgin's YWCA in the ESL Program; she has volunteered time at |
| 26 |
| the Christian Appalachian Project in Kentucky and the Big Sandy |
| 27 |
| Reservation in Montana; and
|
| 28 |
| WHEREAS, Marge also has a very creative side; she was a |
| 29 |
| founding member of Fox Valley Beaux Arts Women's Club, which |
| 30 |
| supports annual arts scholarship; and she has helped the not |
