| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives wish to recognize the Kankakee County Center |
| 4 |
| Against Sexual Assault, an advocate for the rights of sexual |
| 5 |
| assault victims in Kankakee County for nearly two decades; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, In that time, the Center has worked diligently |
| 7 |
| with area hospitals, schools and law enforcement agencies to |
| 8 |
| identify and assist victims of sexual abuse; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, The Center is a place where victims can go to |
| 10 |
| receive the support and reassurance they need to begin piecing |
| 11 |
| their lives back together; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Everyday, counselors at the Center listen |
| 13 |
| compassionately as children and adults deal with the mental and |
| 14 |
| emotional trauma of sexual abuse; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, The Center's legal advocates pursue over 135 |
| 16 |
| sexual abuse cases a year, balancing their time between the |
| 17 |
| court system and the lives affected by that system; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Throughout the year, community educators visit |
| 19 |
| local schools, churches, clubs and organizations to |
| 20 |
| sensitively provide prevention education to over 15,000 |
| 21 |
| children and adults; and
|
| 22 |
| WHEREAS, The Center's hard-working, passionate, and |
| 23 |
| dedicated staff has brought hope back to the lives of countless |
| 24 |
| victims and their families; therefore, be it
|
| 25 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 26 |
| NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 27 |
| honor the achievements of the Kankakee County Center Against |
| 28 |
| Sexual Assault and congratulate the staff on the opening of its |
