SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald Eldridge Brandon, who passed
4away on May 7, 2026; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was born to Joe and Edna Sanders
6Brandon in Aberdeen, Mississippi on March 8, 1938; he
7committed to his faith at an early age, attending Mt. Moriah
8Missionary Baptist Church in Aberdeen, Mississippi; he was
9educated in the Aberdeen Public Schools system, and he
10graduated from Shivers High School; he married Charlotte
11Brown, and he later married Arlene Haley Williams; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon worked as a laborer for Boston
13Richie Deluxe General Hauling and as a security guard for
14Lincoln Land Community College and for various security guard
15contractors for the State of Illinois; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon attended Union Baptist Church,
17where he served as an usher; he was involved in youth sports
18and coached many baseball and softball teams; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was a great athlete who played
20baseball and football, and he was an avid sportsman who
21enjoyed hunting and fishing; he could cook anything grown,

1hunted, or caught, including frying fish, roasting wild game,
2and cooking greens and sweet potatoes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon, affectionately known as "Uncle
4Duck" and "PaPa Don", had a strong work ethic and a deep sense
5of family pride; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon was preceded in death by his
7parents; his second wife, Arlene; his son, Donald; and his
8siblings, Joe Brandon Jr. and Velma Rucker; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Brandon is survived by his sisters, Gladys
10Richie and Betty White; his sister-in-law, Janie Brandon; his
11stepchildren, Roy Williams, Michael (Doris) Williams, Tina
12(Tony) Crawford, Debra (Lorenzo) Link, and Donna Ester; three
13grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a host of
14other relatives and friends; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17Donald Eldridge Brandon and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to the family of Donald Brandon as an expression of
