SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Donald "Don" Jones of Mahomet, who
4passed away on October 5, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Don Jones was born on January 9, 1939; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Don Jones, before beginning his long career in
7tiling and carpeting, worked as a suit salesman at Jos. Kuhn &
8Co. and as a mechanic at Arrowhead Lanes; he became a skilled
9craftsman, spending many years with Tile Specialist before
10retiring; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Don Jones was an active member of the Mahomet
12Masonic Lodge #220, serving in many positions over the years,
13and a proud member of the Champaign County Radio Control Club,
14where he enjoyed building and flying model airplanes; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Don Jones was known for his strong work ethic and
16generous heart, and he often split wood to raise money for
17scholarships and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in
18need; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Don Jones loved hunting, fishing, bowling, and
20golfing; he also loved working, staying busy, and contributing

1to his community; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Don Jones was preceded in death by his daughter,
3Debbie Wesselmann, and his granddaughter, Tori Wesselmann; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Don Jones is survived by his wife of 66 years,
5Mercedes Jones; his daughter, Terri (Phil) Campbell; his
6son-in-law, Brent Wesselmann; his grandchildren, Dustin (Maci)
7Campbell and Ashley (Sean) Wonderlich; and four
8great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Donald "Don" Jones and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Don Jones as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
