SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John L. Goleman of Divernon, who
4passed away on September 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Goleman, the son of Leo and Dorothy Reichert
6Goleman, was born in Springfield on August 1, 1953; he
7graduated from Divernon High School in 1971; he received a
8bachelor's degree in agriculture from Western Illinois
9University, where he was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho
10fraternity; he married Kathy Grider on February 17, 1978; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Goleman, along with his wife, worked on the
12family farm located just outside of Divernon, where they
13raised their two children; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Goleman was a lifetime member of the
15Divernon United Methodist Church, where he served as board
16chairman for numerous years; he also served as a trustee for
17the Township of Divernon for 36 years; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Goleman was an avid sports fan, especially
19the Fighting Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Goleman was a devoted family man with a

1generous spirit; he will be remembered for his sense of humor
2and wit that could put anyone at ease; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Goleman was preceded in death by his father
4and his sisters, Melinda and Ann; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Goleman, at the time of his passing, was
6survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathy; his children, Cory
7Goleman and Ryan (Sarah) Goleman; two grandchildren; his
8mother; his brother, Andy Goleman; and several nieces and
9nephews; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12John L. Goleman and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of John Goleman as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
