| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Kenneth W. "Ken" Aupperle of Morton, |
| 4 | | who passed away on October 14, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was born to William and Sophia |
| 6 | | (Kaisner) Aupperle in Morton on July 27, 1933; he served in the |
| 7 | | United States Army; he attended Bradley University; he married |
| 8 | | Carol Ann Friedinger in Pekin on August 7, 1955, and she |
| 9 | | preceded him in death on July 23, 2009; he later married Carol |
| 10 | | Lindstrom in Morton on September 22, 2012; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle worked for Aupperle Construction, a |
| 12 | | family business that celebrated its 120-year anniversary this |
| 13 | | year; he also owned and worked at Cook Rental in Morton; after |
| 14 | | he retired from Aupperle Construction, he served as an |
| 15 | | executive director of the Tazewell County Builders |
| 16 | | Association; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle served his community as precinct |
| 18 | | committeeman of Morton for 50-plus years, as an assessor of |
| 19 | | the Village of Morton for eight years, and as a member of the |
| 20 | | original Morton Park Board and the Morton Chamber of Commerce; |
| 21 | | he also gave his time to the Morton Pumpkin Festival Food Tent; |
| 22 | | and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was a member of Morton Methodist |
| 2 | | Church; he was also active in the Optimist Club, the Jaycees, |
| 3 | | the American Legion, the VFW, the Peoria Honor Flight, the |
| 4 | | Elks Club in Pekin, the Morton Camera Club, the Morton Wood |
| 5 | | Carving Club, Habitat For Humanity, Easter Seals-UPC, the Boy |
| 6 | | Scouts of America, and the Morton and Clearwater Rotary Club; |
| 7 | | and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was named the 2001 Morton Pumpkin |
| 9 | | Festival Parade Marshal and Construction Man of the Year by |
| 10 | | TRICON in 2002; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle enjoyed spending time with his |
| 12 | | family and friends at pool parties, during family vacations to |
| 13 | | the Ozarks, and at the beach, especially in Clearwater, |
| 14 | | Florida; he was an avid traveler who visited many |
| 15 | | destinations, including Cuba, Israel, China, Vietnam, France, |
| 16 | | Switzerland, Liberia, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England, |
| 17 | | Poland, Austria, Vietnam, and the Panama Canal; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was preceded in death by his |
| 19 | | brother, William Jr.; his son, Bruce Aupperle; his |
| 20 | | daughter-in-law, Debra Aupperle; and his best friend, Jay |
| 21 | | Ackerman; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle is survived by his daughters, Lori |
| 2 | | (Earl) Waughop, Lisa (Greg) Stone, and Lynn (Garlan) Guthrie; |
| 3 | | his siblings, Steve (Nancy) Aupperle and Delores (John) |
| 4 | | Woodburn; his wife, Carol Lindstrom-Aupperle; his stepsons, |
| 5 | | Mark Reecy and Matt (Barbara) Reecy; five grandchildren; three |
| 6 | | great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four |
| 7 | | step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it |
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 10 | | Kenneth W. "Ken" Aupperle and extend our sincere condolences |
| 11 | | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be |
| 12 | | it further |
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 14 | | presented to the family of Ken Aupperle as an expression of our |
| 15 | | deepest sympathy. |
