SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kenneth W. "Ken" Aupperle of Morton,
4who passed away on October 14, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was born to William and Sophia
6(Kaisner) Aupperle in Morton on July 27, 1933; he served in the
7United States Army; he attended Bradley University; he married
8Carol Ann Friedinger in Pekin on August 7, 1955, and she
9preceded him in death on July 23, 2009; he later married Carol
10Lindstrom in Morton on September 22, 2012; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle worked for Aupperle Construction, a
12family business that celebrated its 120-year anniversary this
13year; he also owned and worked at Cook Rental in Morton; after
14he retired from Aupperle Construction, he served as an
15executive director of the Tazewell County Builders
16Association; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle served his community as precinct
18committeeman of Morton for 50-plus years, as an assessor of
19the Village of Morton for eight years, and as a member of the
20original Morton Park Board and the Morton Chamber of Commerce;
21he also gave his time to the Morton Pumpkin Festival Food Tent;
22and

1    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was a member of Morton Methodist
2Church; he was also active in the Optimist Club, the Jaycees,
3the American Legion, the VFW, the Peoria Honor Flight, the
4Elks Club in Pekin, the Morton Camera Club, the Morton Wood
5Carving Club, Habitat For Humanity, Easter Seals-UPC, the Boy
6Scouts of America, and the Morton and Clearwater Rotary Club;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was named the 2001 Morton Pumpkin
9Festival Parade Marshal and Construction Man of the Year by
10TRICON in 2002; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle enjoyed spending time with his
12family and friends at pool parties, during family vacations to
13the Ozarks, and at the beach, especially in Clearwater,
14Florida; he was an avid traveler who visited many
15destinations, including Cuba, Israel, China, Vietnam, France,
16Switzerland, Liberia, Germany, Ireland, Scotland, England,
17Poland, Austria, Vietnam, and the Panama Canal; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle was preceded in death by his
19brother, William Jr.; his son, Bruce Aupperle; his
20daughter-in-law, Debra Aupperle; and his best friend, Jay
21Ackerman; and

1    WHEREAS, Ken Aupperle is survived by his daughters, Lori
2(Earl) Waughop, Lisa (Greg) Stone, and Lynn (Garlan) Guthrie;
3his siblings, Steve (Nancy) Aupperle and Delores (John)
4Woodburn; his wife, Carol Lindstrom-Aupperle; his stepsons,
5Mark Reecy and Matt (Barbara) Reecy; five grandchildren; three
6great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and four
7step-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Kenneth W. "Ken" Aupperle and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Ken Aupperle as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
