SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of James Joseph "Jim" Flanagan; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan was born to Joe and Eileen Flanagan
5on January 5, 1946; he spent his youth at Kennedy Park, and he
6graduated from St. Cajetan Elementary School and Brother Rice
7High School, both in Chicago; he married Sandy Dunne in 1969,
8and they raised five children on Seeley Avenue; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan had a long career as a carpenter,
10and he was a proud member of Carpenters Union Local 13; outside
11of work, he was always working on projects or building
12something for family, friends, and neighbors; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan was a collections counter and
14parishioner at St. Barnabas Parish, and he served as a
15precinct captain for the 19th Ward for many years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan coached Little League baseball
17during his younger years, and he became a founding member of
18the Bulls Baseball Club; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan and his wife, Sandy, celebrated
20their 50th wedding anniversary in 2019 with a family trip to

1Wisconsin, where he enjoyed spending time with his entire
2family and listening to and singing all of his favorite songs;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan was a very proud grandfather, and he
5often bestowed his many jokes and puns upon his grandchildren;
6he will be remembered for bringing a smile to everyone's face
7whenever he was in the room; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jim Flanagan was the husband of Sandy; the father
9of Jeanne, Joey, Peggy, Bridget, and Jim; the grandfather of
1014; and the younger brother of Maureen, Pegi, and Nancy;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14James Joseph "Jim" Flanagan and extend our sincere condolences
15to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
16it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Jim Flanagan as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
