SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Michael Edward Roy of Peoria, who
4passed away on September 9, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Michael Roy was born to Lester and Sylvan Roy in
6Portsmouth, Virginia on February 26, 1954; he married Cheryl
7Goldsby; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Michael Roy worked at Orkin Pest Control for 38
9years, retiring in 2020; he loved talking to people on the job
10and truly enjoyed running his route, leading him to meet many
11people over the years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Michael Roy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan;
13he enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and doing odd jobs at home or
14for others, and one of his greatest joys was watching his
15grandchildren grow and succeed; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Michael Roy was a devoted husband, father,
17grandfather, and friend whose kindness, sense of humor, and
18strong work ethic touched everyone who knew him; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Michael Roy was preceded in death by his parents
20and his brother, Luke Roy; and

1    WHEREAS, Michael Roy is survived by his wife of 46 years,
2Cheryl; his children, Michelle (Eric) Sill, Brittany (Joshua)
3Clarke, Brett (Ashley) Roy, and Christopher Roy; five
4grandchildren; his sisters, Cindy Rechner, Debbie McGrath,
5Leslie Spreitzer, Mary Cromer, Pamela Roy, Katie Hakey,
6Elizabeth Lembke, and Sally Dant; and many other family
7members; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Michael Edward Roy and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Michael Roy as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
