SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" Strow,
4M.D., who passed away on September 23, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow was born to Dr. Wallace F. Strow Sr. and
6Margaret Miller Strow in Springfield on May 22, 1955; she
7attended Sacred Heart Academy and the University of Illinois;
8she received a Master of Nursing with a pediatric
9neurosurgical subspecialty at the University of Illinois
10Chicago; she earned a Doctor of Medicine from the Southern
11Illinois University School of Medicine in 1984, and she became
12board certified in internal medicine and completed her
13dermatology residency at Emory University; she married David
14Reid in 1988; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow was a beloved figure in the medical
16community; she initially worked as a nurse at Children's
17Hospital of Chicago at Northwestern University; after
18completing her residency at Emory University, she opened her
19own dermatology practice in Springfield in 1992, where she
20shared her unique ability to connect with patients and make
21them feel heard; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow served as an online community leader

1for the Melanoma Research Alliance; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow, affectionately called "Marmee" by her
3grandchildren, enjoyed running, skiing, and traveling the
4world; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow was known as a force of nature, and her
6nerves of steel were only outmatched by her heart of gold; she
7will be remembered as an incredible mother and grandmother who
8made normal days special and holidays, especially Christmas,
9spectacular; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow was preceded in death by her parents;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Strow is survived by her husband of 37 years,
13David Reid; her daughters, Catherine "Cat" Reid and Sarah
14(Tom) Reid Fletcher; her stepson, David B. (Rebecca) Reid; two
15grandchildren; her siblings, Dr. Wallace F. (Anh) Strow Jr.,
16Dr. Susan (Dr. Jim) Stegeman, Brian Strow, and Karen Strow;
17her stepmother, Patricia Strow; her nieces and nephews; and
18many friends; therefore, be it
 
19    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
20ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
21Margaret Elizabeth "Beth" Strow, M.D. and extend our sincere

1condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
2her; and be it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
