SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Thomas Charles Bohdan, who passed away
4on April 29, 2025 at the age of 76; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan was born to Walter and Agnes Bohdan
6in Chicago on January 30, 1949; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan followed his lifelong passion for
8education, receiving degrees from Kendall College and
9Northwestern University as well as a master's degree in
10library science from Rosary College, now Dominican University;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan held various teaching and
13leadership positions across schools in Evanston, Oak Park,
14River Forest, and Naperville, inspiring students through
15innovative programs such as the Veterans History Project,
16debate competitions, and interactive Civil War lessons; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan held a profound admiration for
18American history, particularly the Civil War era, and he was
19deeply engaged in religious studies, finding significance in
20exploring various faith traditions; and

1    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan's Catholic faith was a guiding
2force throughout his life, shaping his values, his dedication
3to service, and his commitment to education; he remained a
4devoted parishioner of St. Luke Church for many years; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan was a passionate antique collector
6who delighted in uncovering historical artifacts and sharing
7their stories with friends and family; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Thomas Bohdan is survived by his wife of 52
9years, Susan (Troyer) Bohdan; his children, Christopher
10(Megan) and Theresa (Timothy Wheeler); his grandchildren,
11Tilton, Theodore, and Wynn; his siblings, Michael, Peter, and
12Mary Anne; and his extended family; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Thomas Charles Bohdan and extend our sincere condolences to
16his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Thomas Bohdan as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
