SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Mary Carol Vanecko, who passed away on
4February 28, 2025 at the age of 86; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Vanecko grew up in Chicago, and she
6graduated from Nativity of Our Lord Grammar School, St. Xavier
7High School, and St. Mary's College; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Mary Vanecko was dedicated to teaching, and she
9taught kindergarten at Wilmette Public Schools; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mary Vanecko was a lifelong parishioner at Queen
11of All Saints and the longest standing member of the
12Misericordia Women's Board; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mary Vanecko was a loving mother and grandmother
14who enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, visiting Grand Beach,
15shopping, attending parties, eating Sunday dinner, and
16traveling; she was known for cooking her signature pancakes,
17sending her funny emojis, and making her rapid-fire telephone
18calls; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mary Vanecko was preceded in death by her husband
20of 59 years, Robert M. Vanecko, M.D.; her parents, Richard J.

1Daley and Eleanor (Guilfoyle) Daley; her siblings, Patricia
2Daley Martino and Eleanor Daley; and her in-laws, Peter
3(Patricia) Martino, Maggie (Richard M.) Daley, and Barbara
4(Michael) Daley; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mary Vanecko is survived by her children, Robert
6G. (Jamie) Vanecko, Mark G. (Kimberly) Vanecko, R.J. Vanecko,
7and Mary Clare (Oscar) Hickman; her grandchildren, Bobby
8Vanecko, Mary Kate Vanecko, Danny Vanecko, Meg Vanecko, Ellie
9Vanecko, Luke Vanecko, Henry Vanecko, Mary Alana, and Eleanor
10Hickman; her siblings, Richard M. Daley, Michael (Nancy)
11Daley, John P. (Mary Lou) Daley, and William M. (Bernie)
12Daley; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Mary Carol Vanecko and extend our sincere condolences to her
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Mary Vanecko as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
