SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Marie J. "Mimi" Roach, who passed away
4on May 19, 2025 at the age of 97; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach was born to Fred and Brigid Ouellette
6in Chicago on July 8, 1927; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach graduated from nursing school at Oak
8Park Hospital, and she worked as a registered nurse (RN) at the
9hospital and a private doctor's office; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach moved to River Forest, married the
11love of her life, John L. Roach, and raised six children; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach was heavily involved in St. Luke's
13Church, fundraising for the parish and creating a popular and
14successful area house walk to benefit St. Luke's School; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach remained active throughout her life,
16enjoying years in a local bowling league alongside her
17husband, proudly describing her bowling style as "smooth", and
18sharing a love for the game of golf; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach was an avid bridge player and

1participated in tournaments into her early 90s; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach was known for her love of astrology
3and would change plans based on people's signs; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach was a historian who researched events
5past and current, creating dozens of journals over the years
6that featured fascinating facts and trivia; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach was preceded in death by her husband,
8John L. Roach, and her sons, Mark (Linda) Roach and Mel Roach;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mimi Roach is survived by her children, Paul
11(Connie) Roach, Claire (Peter) Metz, Monica Roach, and Maggie
12Cimms; her grandchildren, Michael (Leslie) Metz, Matthew
13(Sarah) Metz, Alexandra (Robbie) Silva, Joseph Metz, and Julie
14(Jerrad) Hillis; her great-grandchildren, Lyons Metz and
15Charlotte Metz; and her sister-in-law, Sister Ellen Roach
16(Aunt Agnes); therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Marie J. "Mimi" Roach and extend our sincere condolences to
20her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
