SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jo Marie Bonell, who passed away on
4September 21, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jo Bonell attended St. Ignatius Grade School and
6St. Scholastica High School, where she served as Student
7Council President; she graduated from the theater department
8and received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University; she
9later received her Master of Library and Information Science
10from the University of Illinois Champaign; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jo Bonell practiced law in Chicago for many
12years; she most recently served as the library director of the
13Des Plaines Public Library, which brought her great joy and
14fulfillment; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Jo Bonell enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling,
16listening to the Beatles, and laughing with her many friends;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Jo Bonell will be remembered for her humor, her
19generosity, and her devotion to her friends, co-workers, and
20family; and

1    WHEREAS, Jo Bonell was the daughter of John and Jeanine
2Bonell; the sister of Marianne (Jump), Margaret (the late
3Thomas) Suerth, Kathy (Aaron) Crane, Jerry (Barb) Bonell, and
4Carolyn (Time) Saylor; the aunt of 11 nieces and nephews; and
5the great-aunt of three grand-nieces and grand-nephews;
6therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Jo Marie Bonell and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Jo Bonell as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
