| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Deborah Ann "Debbie" Johnson, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on September 14, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was born to Richard F. Johnson and | ||||||
| 6 | Betty Lee Johnson in Greenwood, South Carolina on October 14, | ||||||
| 7 | 1957; she and her family arrived in Evanston, Illinois in the | ||||||
| 8 | early 1960s; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was raised with a southern | ||||||
| 10 | Christian upbringing that was the core basis of the beautiful, | ||||||
| 11 | strong dedicated woman she became; she was baptized early and | ||||||
| 12 | joined her family as a member of Ebenezer AME Church, where she | ||||||
| 13 | always served when asked; and | ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson attended Foster and Noyes | ||||||
| 15 | Elementary Schools and Haven Middle School, graduating from | ||||||
| 16 | Evanston Township High School in 1975; after her high school | ||||||
| 17 | graduation, she attended Oakton Community College, where she | ||||||
| 18 | took an interest in computer science and technology; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson, in her spare time, played on an | ||||||
| 20 | organized 16-inch softball team in Chicago called the Burners, | ||||||
| 21 | where she served as a formidable catcher; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was a devoted mother, a dear | ||||||
| 2 | grandmother affectionately known as "Dee-Dee", and a beloved | ||||||
| 3 | sister and friend; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was known for her unconditional | ||||||
| 5 | love, generosity, and patience, and what she did not possess | ||||||
| 6 | tangibly, she gave in love and prayer; and | ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was preceded in death by her | ||||||
| 8 | parents and her brothers, Thomas Johnson and Richard E. | ||||||
| 9 | Johnson; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson is survived by her daughter, | ||||||
| 11 | Valerie L. Printis; her granddaughters, Trinity Printis and | ||||||
| 12 | Mariah Printis; her brothers, Bruce (Adriane) Johnson, Floyd | ||||||
| 13 | Johnson, Curtis (Robin) Johnson, and Michael (Paula) Johnson; | ||||||
| 14 | her sisters, Vivian McFarland and Sheila (Terry) Livingston; | ||||||
| 15 | and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and loved ones; | ||||||
| 16 | therefore, be it | ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 19 | Deborah Ann "Debbie" Johnson and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 20 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 21 | her; and be it further | ||||||
