SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Deborah Ann "Debbie" Johnson, who
4passed away on September 14, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was born to Richard F. Johnson and
6Betty Lee Johnson in Greenwood, South Carolina on October 14,
71957; she and her family arrived in Evanston, Illinois in the
8early 1960s; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was raised with a southern
10Christian upbringing that was the core basis of the beautiful,
11strong dedicated woman she became; she was baptized early and
12joined her family as a member of Ebenezer AME Church, where she
13always served when asked; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson attended Foster and Noyes
15Elementary Schools and Haven Middle School, graduating from
16Evanston Township High School in 1975; after her high school
17graduation, she attended Oakton Community College, where she
18took an interest in computer science and technology; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson, in her spare time, played on an
20organized 16-inch softball team in Chicago called the Burners,
21where she served as a formidable catcher; and

1    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was a devoted mother, a dear
2grandmother affectionately known as "Dee-Dee", and a beloved
3sister and friend; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was known for her unconditional
5love, generosity, and patience, and what she did not possess
6tangibly, she gave in love and prayer; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was preceded in death by her
8parents and her brothers, Thomas Johnson and Richard E.
9Johnson; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson is survived by her daughter,
11Valerie L. Printis; her granddaughters, Trinity Printis and
12Mariah Printis; her brothers, Bruce (Adriane) Johnson, Floyd
13Johnson, Curtis (Robin) Johnson, and Michael (Paula) Johnson;
14her sisters, Vivian McFarland and Sheila (Terry) Livingston;
15and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and loved ones;
16therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Deborah Ann "Debbie" Johnson and extend our sincere
20condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21her; and be it further
