SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Deborah Ann "Debbie" Johnson, who passed away on September 14, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was born to Richard F. Johnson and Betty Lee Johnson in Greenwood, South Carolina on October 14, 1957; she and her family arrived in Evanston, Illinois in the early 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was raised with a southern Christian upbringing that was the core basis of the beautiful, strong dedicated woman she became; she was baptized early and joined her family as a member of Ebenezer AME Church, where she always served when asked; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson attended Foster and Noyes Elementary Schools and Haven Middle School, graduating from Evanston Township High School in 1975; after her high school graduation, she attended Oakton Community College, where she took an interest in computer science and technology; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson, in her spare time, played on an organized 16-inch softball team in Chicago called the Burners, where she served as a formidable catcher; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was a devoted mother, a dear grandmother affectionately known as "Dee-Dee", and a beloved sister and friend; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was known for her unconditional love, generosity, and patience, and what she did not possess tangibly, she gave in love and prayer; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Thomas Johnson and Richard E. Johnson; and

WHEREAS, Debbie Johnson is survived by her daughter, Valerie L. Printis; her granddaughters, Trinity Printis and Mariah Printis; her brothers, Bruce (Adriane) Johnson, Floyd Johnson, Curtis (Robin) Johnson, and Michael (Paula) Johnson; her sisters, Vivian McFarland and Sheila (Terry) Livingston; and a host of nephews, nieces, friends, and loved ones; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Deborah Ann "Debbie" Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Debbie Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
