SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Judith Darlene "Judi" Kingery Dodson
4of Springfield, who passed away on August 21, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson, the daughter of James J.V. "Jude"
6and OlaBelle Waneta Yaw Kingery, was born in Jewett on
7December 3, 1941; she was a lifelong learner, attending
8several schools and universities; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson owned her own accounting and tax
10business before changing professions to drive a semi-truck at
11age 60; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson was involved in the community in a
13number of ways, including volunteering and working for park
14districts, working for youth organizations, being a juvenile
15probation officer, and serving as a foster parent; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson was a member and officer of the
17Springfield Luncheon Optimist Club for many years and a member
18of the Order of the Eastern Star, Flower City Chapter for more
19than 50 years; she also served as the first female president of
20the Effingham Park District; and

1    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson loved painting and playing Scrabble,
2and she was an avid Murder She Wrote fan; above all, her family
3and her dogs were her life; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson was preceded in death by her parents;
5her brother, Martin Haldane "Red" Kingery; and several of her
6dogs; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Judi Dodson is survived by her husband, Neil
8Dodson; her children, Martin Fruchtl and Teresa (Bill) Trail;
9two granddaughters; her dog, Shelby; and many other loved ones
10and friends; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Judith Darlene "Judi" Kingery Dodson and extend our sincere
14condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
15her; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Judi Dodson as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
