SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John "Jack" Daley III, who passed away on June 23, 2025; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley was born on December 21, 1957 and raised in Harvey; he graduated from Thornridge High School in Dolton; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley began his career as an emergency medical technician with his family's ambulance company, Daley's Ambulance, founded in 1950 by his father, Bud Daley; as the first private ambulance service in the south suburbs, it became a cornerstone of emergency medical care in the region; he served as a paramedic in South Cook EMS for 49 years, answering his final ambulance call in March 2025; he was the owner and operator of both Bud's Ambulance in Dolton and Daley's Ambulance in Joliet; under his leadership, Bud's Ambulance became the primary 911 EMS provider and dispatch center for numerous southland communities; his unwavering commitment to emergency medicine saved countless lives, and his work was marked by deep compassion and tireless dedication; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley served for nearly a decade with the Burnham Fire Department, rising to the rank of deputy chief in the 1980s; he joined the Burnham Police Department in 1980 and reached the rank of sergeant in 2006; he was part of the formation of the Illiana Regional Gang Task Force, where he served for many years; he was also a longtime and respected member of the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force, where for nearly 15 years he played a key role in solving hundreds of serious cases, helping to bring justice to victims and their families; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley was an appointed member of the Region VII Medical Director Advisory, a member of the American Ambulance Association, past president of Calumet City School District 155, and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (Burnham); and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley was affectionately known as "Pagi" to his cherished grandchildren, who were the light of his life; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley took immense pride in his family and close friends; he loved spending time with his wife at their lake house, going to concerts, and traveling to Florida; he never let anything hold him back from enjoying life, and his legacy is one of compassion, leadership, and unwavering service; he was a hero, a mentor, and a deeply loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley's life's work will continue to inspire all who knew him; and

WHEREAS, Jack Daley is survived by his wife, Kimberly; his daughters, Erica (David) Spengel, Nicole (Kevin) Tamme, Laura Daley, Natalie (Daniel) Lewandowski, and Jennifer (Fabian) Herrera; his sons, Edward Daley, Anthony Daley, Brian Solava, and Donald Smith; and his grandchildren, Ava, Aiden, Abel, Elliot, Cooper, Bridget, Evan, Carter, and Avery; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John "Jack" Daley III and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Daley as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
