SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Clara "Jane" Stetter, who passed away
4on June 19, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter, the daughter of Clemmie Milton and
6Martha Evelyn Lucille Scribner, was born in Parma, Missouri on
7September 12, 1935; she graduated from Nokomis High School;
8she married Weldon Stetter in Girard on November 7, 1970; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter worked as marketing manager for
10Capitol Machinery, also known as Altorfer Cat, in Springfield;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter volunteered for the St. John Vianney
13Women's Society, where she established the first Christmas
14Cookie Walk fundraiser, now a long-standing annual event; she
15also volunteered for the Heart Program, tutoring one-on-one
16first grade reading at Cantrall Elementary School; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter served as secretary for the Macoupin
18County Republican Central Committee and as program director
19for the Macoupin County Republican Women's Club; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter was an avid gardener who loved

1spending hours in her flower gardens, and she was also an
2accomplished fine china painter; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jane Setter loved spending time with her husband,
4her daughter, and other family members; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter was preceded in death by her
6daughter, Lynda VanRossum, and her brothers, Richard Scribner,
7Clemmie "Buddy" Scribner, and Larry Scribner; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Jane Stetter is survived by her husband of 54
9years, Weldon; her daughter, Kelly (Jim) Bick; three
10grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Bonnie
11(Dave) Books, Sue (Bill) Koons, Kathy (Linh) Pham, and Jerry
12(Krissie) Scribner; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be
13it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Clara "Jane" Stetter and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Jane Stetter as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
