SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened 
3to learn of the death of Sergeant Hollis Weller of the Joliet 
4Police Department, who passed away on May 16, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sergeant Weller was a dedicated 20-year veteran 
6of the Joliet Police Department, joining the department on May 
72, 2005; he was promoted to sergeant in July 2020, and he most 
8recently worked in the department's Traffic Unit; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sergeant Weller was a decorated officer whose 
10commitment to service was recognized with numerous awards, 
11including the prestigious Award for Heroism in 2015; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Sergeant Weller was widely respected as a leader, 
13mentor, and friend; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sergeant Weller is survived by his wife and three 
15children; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL 
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of 
18Sergeant Hollis Weller of the Joliet Police Department and 
19extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all 
20who knew and loved him; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
2presented to the family of Sergeant Weller as an expression of 
3our deepest sympathy.
