SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gary R. Babcock of Jacksonville, who
4passed away on June 3, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Babcock, the son of Orrin and Margaret
6Babcock, was born in Woodson on October 15, 1942; he served in
7the United States Navy as a firefighter while aboard the USS
8Oxford from 1961-1964; he married Joan R. Donnelly in New York
9on February 14, 1964, and she preceded him in death on March
1029, 2025; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Gary Babcock was employed by the City of
12Jacksonville Fire Department in 1974, and he retired in 1997;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Gary Babcock was an avid fisherman and hunter; he
15was a member of the Cass County Muzzle Loader Club for many
16years, had a talent for building and repairing Kentucky and
17Flintlock Rifles, and won numerous marksmanship awards; he
18also loved dogs; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Gary Babcock was known for his great respect for
20wildlife and his love for helping others; and

1    WHEREAS, Gary Babcock is survived by his children, Gary
2(Karen) Babcock and Mary Lanning; four grandchildren; and two
3great-granddaughters; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Gary R. Babcock and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Gary Babcock as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
