SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Lear Whalin, who passed away on June
49, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lear Whalin was born to Mr. and Mrs. Gatlin in
6Forest City, Arkansas on July 1, 1919; she committed to her
7faith at an early age; she and her family migrated to Illinois
8in 1942; she married Jack Whalin, and he preceded her in death;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Lear Whalin studied beauty culture and became a
11successful entrepreneur who owned her own beauty shop; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Lear Whalin lived to see six generations of her
13family born, and in the process, she blessed them with wisdom,
14strength, and love for 105 years and 11 months; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Lear Whalin was preceded in death by her parents;
16her sisters, Will, Marge, and Naomi; her brother, Howard; and
17her great-grandson, Raynard; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Lear Whalin is survived by her child, Lois
19Preston; her grandchildren, Jacqueline (Larry) Kates, Gail
20(De) Foley, Vickie (Tom) Bogovich, Richard Preston, Steven

1(Kim) Preston, Renee (Willie) Cherry, and Kimberly (Robert)
2Lewis; her great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Lois, Jessica,
3Larry, Reginald, Richard, Shaylan, Daniel, Kenai, Michael,
4Darryl, Willie, Marcus, Jeremy, David, Cory, and Mia; and a
5host of great-great-grandchildren,
6great-great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and
7friends; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Lear Whalin and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
11friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Lear Whalin as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
