| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James L. "Jim" Widger of Macomb, |
| 4 | | formerly of Canton, who passed away on June 7, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Widger was born to David Earl and Anna |
| 6 | | (Elias) Widger in Fairview on March 27, 1933; he served in the |
| 7 | | United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he first |
| 8 | | married Sandra Cook; he later married Muriel Bowton in Canton |
| 9 | | on November 2, 1979, and she preceded him in death on September |
| 10 | | 15, 2018; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Widger, after completing his military |
| 12 | | service, worked as a cowboy, wrangling cattle on ranches in |
| 13 | | Fulton County; he founded Widger and Sons Roofing and served |
| 14 | | as a foreman at the International Harvester Company; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Jim Widger helped build and later managed Midwest |
| 16 | | Horse Spa, a training facility for harness horses, and he |
| 17 | | trained horses until his retirement; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Jim Widger loved participating in bowling leagues |
| 19 | | and playing cards with his brothers; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Jim Widger was preceded in death by his parents; |

| 1 | | his children, David Widger, Susan Widger, and Denise Long; his |
| 2 | | brothers, Russell Widger and Charles Widger; and his sisters, |
| 3 | | Evelyn Lowe and Ann Hamilton; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Jim Widger is survived by his children, Kendall |
| 5 | | (the late Gloria) Widger, Michael (Alex) Widger, Melissa Kay |
| 6 | | Reyes, Samuel Widger, Sherry (Kevin) Banninga, Joseph Widger, |
| 7 | | Melanie (Matthew) Barnes, Thomas (Kelli) Widger, Douglas |
| 8 | | (Heather) Widger, Joe (Pat) Henderson, Tony (Julie) Henderson, |
| 9 | | Jeff (Elsie) Henderson, and Wendy (the late Steve) Hilton; his |
| 10 | | brothers, Wesley Widger, Wayne Widger, and Bernard Widger; his |
| 11 | | sister, Marilyn Widger; many grandchildren, |
| 12 | | great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and his |
| 13 | | loyal dachshund, Penny; therefore, be it |
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | James L. "Jim" Widger and extend our sincere condolences to |
| 17 | | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 18 | | further |
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Jim Widger as an expression of our |
| 21 | | deepest sympathy. |
