SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Price Eugene "Gene" Edwards of
4Industry, who passed away on June 9, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Edwards was born to Price Charles and Mary
6Helen Ford Edwards in Canton on September 17, 1950; he
7graduated from Canton High School in 1968; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gene Edwards served in the United States Navy
9during the Vietnam War from December 21, 1969 to April 23,
101971, holding the position of helmsman aboard the USS Brule
11AKL-28 as part of the Brown Water Navy for the U.S. Naval
12Reserve; during his military service, he saw combat in the
13Cambodian Expeditionary; he was awarded the National Defense
14Ribbon and a Vietnam Expeditionary Unit Citation; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Gene Edwards married Deborah Ann (Kliffmiller)
16Cox at Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb on May 27,
171994, and their union created a blended family; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gene Edwards loved spending time with family,
19traveling with his wife, golfing, cooking, and watching TV;
20and

1    WHEREAS, Gene Edwards was preceded in death by his
2parents; his sister, Mary Sue Edwards; his daughter, Jessica
3Cox; one grandson; and his father-in-law, Ivan Kliffmiller;
4and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gene Edwards is survived by his wife of 31 years,
6Deborah; his sons, Charlie Hansmeyer, Ryan (Carmen) Edwards,
7and Aaron Edwards; his daughters, Jennifer (Max) Edwards and
8Heidi (Heath) Geiman; eight grandchildren; his brother, Ronald
9(Harmony) Edwards; his brothers-in-law, Blaine (Carol)
10Kliffmiller, Jeff (Jane) Kliffmiller, and Kevin Kliffmiller;
11his sister-in-law, Sheila (John) Campbell; and his
12mother-in-law, Anna Kliffmiller; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Price Eugene "Gene" Edwards and extend our sincere condolences
16to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
17it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Gene Edwards as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
