| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of May Young Chin, who passed away on |
| 4 | | February 1, 2025; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, May Chin was born in Chicago in 1951; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, May Chin was a pillar of the Chicago Chinatown |
| 7 | | community; she served as treasurer of the Ping Tom Park |
| 8 | | Advisory Council and played a key role in organizing community |
| 9 | | events, including the Back-to-School celebration and |
| 10 | | Trunk-or-Treat; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, May Chin was actively involved in the Chinese |
| 12 | | American Civic Council, working to support immigrant |
| 13 | | communities and promote civic engagement, and she prioritized |
| 14 | | supporting local organizations, including the Chinese American |
| 15 | | Museum of Chicago (CAMOC), where she contributed her story to |
| 16 | | the museum's oral history project; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, May Chin will be remembered for her kindness, |
| 18 | | dedication, generosity, and her commitment to community |
| 19 | | service; therefore, be it |
| 20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
