SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of May Young Chin, who passed away on
4February 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, May Chin was born in Chicago in 1951; and
 
6    WHEREAS, May Chin was a pillar of the Chicago Chinatown
7community; she served as treasurer of the Ping Tom Park
8Advisory Council and played a key role in organizing community
9events, including the Back-to-School celebration and
10Trunk-or-Treat; and
 
11    WHEREAS, May Chin was actively involved in the Chinese
12American Civic Council, working to support immigrant
13communities and promote civic engagement, and she prioritized
14supporting local organizations, including the Chinese American
15Museum of Chicago (CAMOC), where she contributed her story to
16the museum's oral history project; and
 
17    WHEREAS, May Chin will be remembered for her kindness,
18dedication, generosity, and her commitment to community
19service; therefore, be it
 
20    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2May Young Chin and extend our sincere condolences to her
3family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it

6presented to the family of May Chin as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
