SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Charles M. "Chuck" Orwig II of
4Kewanee, who passed away on April 9, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was born to C. Merle and Floradele
6(Simpson) Orwig in Galesburg on January 31, 1934; he graduated
7from Galesburg High School in 1951; he married Lenore Jean
8"Jeanne" Hanson in Biloxi, Mississippi on September 12, 1953,
9and she preceded him in death on August 31, 2023; he served in
10the U.S. Air Force from 1953 to 1957, during which he was
11stationed in New York, New York, Biloxi, Mississippi,
12Riverside, California, and Japan; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig worked in sales and service for 58
14years, retiring in 1996; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was a member of the First
16Presbyterian Church in Kewanee and was active in the Kewanee
17Church Fellowship; he and his wife, Jeanne, volunteered at
18several area hospitals, nursing homes, and churches, dressing
19as Raggedy Andy and Ann and performing musical skits; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was an extremely gifted man; he had
21his own dance band for over 60 years, which he started in high

1school; he enjoyed photography, photo imaging and creating,
2woodworking, computer electronics, and piano tuning and
3repair; he loved spending time with his family and traveling
4with his wife; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig was preceded in death by his parents
6and his sisters, Martha Evans, Mildred Kreutzer, and Margaret
7Hill; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Chuck Orwig is survived by his daughters, Caron
9(Richard) Walter and Cheryl (Jeff Butts) Orwig; his sons,
10Charles "Chic" (Natosha) Orwig III and Chris (Stephanie)
11Orwig; his foster son, Richard (Debbie) Thompson; nine
12grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two
13great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Charles M. "Chuck" Orwig II and extend our sincere condolences
17to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
18it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Chuck Orwig as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
