SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Lois Preston on receiving her master's degree in
4computer science at the age of 87; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lois Preston retired after serving as a caring
6nurse for 30 years; she worked at Cuneo Hospital, Columbus
7Hospital, and Mother Cabrini Hospital, before ultimately
8retiring from St. Joseph's Hospital; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Lois Preston, after retirement, worked for seven
10years at Green Grove Missionary Baptist Church; she then went
11back to school and earned her associate's degree at
12Kennedy-King College, her bachelor's degree in computer
13science from Governors State University, and her master's
14degree in computer science, also from Governors State
15University; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Lois Preston is the oldest person to graduate
17from Governors State University and said that she pursued her
18education to be a role model for younger generations; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Lois Preston is the true meaning of resilience;
20therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Lois
3Preston on receiving her master's degree in computer science
4at the age of 87; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to Lois Preston as a symbol of our respect and
7esteem.
