| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Paul Alan Zucker of Beverly Shores, | ||||||
| 4 | Indiana, who passed away on March 28, 2025 at the age of 68; | ||||||
| 5 | and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker was born to Jeane Herman (Burton) | ||||||
| 7 | Kravits and Fred M. Zucker in Chicago on April 17, 1956; and | ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker graduated cum laude from Knox College | ||||||
| 9 | in 1978, where he met Susan Haerr-Zucker, who would be his wife | ||||||
| 10 | of 35 years and best friend; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker received a Master in Business | ||||||
| 12 | Administration from the University of Chicago in 1983, and | ||||||
| 13 | after graduating, he went to work for Inland Steel Company and | ||||||
| 14 | then LaSalle Partners, now JLL, Jones Lang LaSalle; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker co-founded a real estate company in | ||||||
| 16 | 1986, where he developed new townhouses and condominiums and | ||||||
| 17 | undertook renovations of landmark buildings, ultimately | ||||||
| 18 | winning awards for two of his developments; and | ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker served as a member of many boards and | ||||||
| 20 | was a chair of several, including Heartland Alliance for Human | ||||||

| 1 | Needs and Human Rights, Heartland Housing, the Architecture | ||||||
| 2 | and Design Society of the Art Institute of Chicago, the | ||||||
| 3 | Marjorie Kovler Center, and the Shirley Heinze Land Trust in | ||||||
| 4 | Northwest Indiana; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker and Susan, who is a Knox Trustee, | ||||||
| 6 | also helped establish the Hirsch-Zucker Endowed Fund for | ||||||
| 7 | Non-Profit Internships, which helps support Knox College | ||||||
| 8 | students participating in internships with non-profit | ||||||
| 9 | organizations; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker and Susan traveled together for both | ||||||
| 11 | pleasure and humanitarian service, and they loved spending | ||||||
| 12 | time outdoors, whether it was hiking across trails, riding a | ||||||
| 13 | camel in the Sahara Desert, sailing, or tracking gorillas in | ||||||
| 14 | Rwanda; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker and Susan left Chicago in 2021, | ||||||
| 16 | dividing their time between a home in Naples, Florida and his | ||||||
| 17 | beloved Beverly Shores; and | ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker will be remembered for his enthusiasm | ||||||
| 19 | for outdoor activities, his love of fast cars, and his | ||||||
| 20 | welcoming attitude that ensured he made new friends throughout | ||||||
| 21 | his entire life while keeping those he already knew; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Paul Zucker is survived by his wife, Susan; his | ||||||
| 2 | sister-in-law, Linda R. (Rodney) Sabick; his nieces, Leslie | ||||||
| 3 | Sabick (Cody) Walker and Rachel M. Sabick; his brother-in-law, | ||||||
| 4 | Michael (Colleen) Haerr; his great-niece, Layna Walker; and | ||||||
| 5 | dozens of cousins he loved dearly; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 7 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 8 | Paul Alan Zucker and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 9 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 10 | further | ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to the family of Paul Zucker as an expression of our | ||||||
| 13 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
