SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Sheila Joy (Monti) Bussone of Chetek,
4Wisconsin, formerly of Peoria, who passed away on May 14,
52025; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone was born to Vaughn Monti and
7Kathleen Reising in Peoria on September 17, 1970; she was
8raised with her brother, Tony, in Peoria; she attended Peoria
9Public School District 150 and graduated from Woodruff High
10School in 1988; she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics
11from Eastern Illinois University in 1993, where she made
12lifetime friendships; she married Paul Bussone on June 19,
132004, and while both were still working in the Peoria School
14District, they purchased their first home in Chetek,
15Wisconsin; they later moved two blocks down the street to a
16home on the lake in 2017, where they resided until her passing;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone began her teaching career at her
19alma mater, Woodruff High School, teaching geometry and other
20mathematical interests; she also taught at Morton High School
21and Peoria Heights High School; she spent her final few years
22in a classroom at Marquette Heights Elementary School, a
23position she thoroughly loved; she retired in 2020; during and

1after her formal teaching days, she tutored all levels of math
2to students from the Peoria area; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone and Paul loved riding
4Harley-Davidson motorcycles; she was a member of the Peoria
5Harley Owners Group (HOG) and the Blue Hills HOG of Rice Lake,
6Wisconsin, and she could often be seen in Harley colors or
7something purple, her favorite color of the rainbow; as a
8hobbyist, she was an avid reader and loved beading bracelets,
9necklaces, and earrings; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone was preceded in death by her
11grandmother, Helen Reising; her in-laws, Joe and Evelyn
12Bussone; her brother-in-law, Mark Bussone; and several uncles;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, Sheila Bussone is survived by her husband, Paul;
15her stepsons, Mitch (Samantha) Bussone and Jared (Tori)
16Bussone; her granddaughter, Dylan Mae Bussone; her caregiver,
17Jackie Brisky; her father and his life partner, Rosie; her
18mother; her brother, Tony Monti; her siblings-in-law, Sue and
19Steve Ohde; her nephews and niece, Eric Ohde, Alex (Haley)
20Ohde, and Rachel (Dean) Marlin; her aunts, Julie, Monica, and
21Mary; numerous other aunts, uncles, and cousins; and many
22close friends from Peoria and Chetek; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Sheila Joy (Monti) Bussone and extend our sincere condolences
4to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
5it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Sheila Bussone as an expression of
8our deepest sympathy.
