| 2 |  |     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to  | 
| 3 |  | congratulate Ralph Schultz on the occasion of his retirement  | 
| 4 |  | as executive director of the Forest Preserve District of Will  | 
| 5 |  | County; and   | 
| 6 |  |     WHEREAS, Ralph Schultz joined the Forest Preserve District  | 
| 7 |  | of Will County in 1993, where he first served as a landscape  | 
| 8 |  | architect; he later served as director of planning and  | 
| 9 |  | operations and chief operating officer; and   | 
| 10 |  |     WHEREAS, During Ralph Schultz's 32-year tenure, the Forest  | 
| 11 |  | Preserve District of Will County expanded its land holdings by  | 
| 12 |  | more than 50%, restored thousands of acres of habitat, and  | 
| 13 |  | opened or improved nearly 50 access areas and trails; and   | 
| 14 |  |     WHEREAS, Throughout the decades, Robert Schultz oversaw  | 
| 15 |  | the creation and extensions of the regional DuPage River  | 
| 16 |  | Trail, the Joliet Junction Trail, the Old Plank Road Trail,  | 
| 17 |  | the Veterans Memorial Trail, the Wauponsee Glacial Trail, and  | 
| 18 |  | many other smaller interconnected paths; and   | 
| 19 |  |     WHEREAS, Ralph Schultz led the effort to acquire Hidden  | 
| 20 |  | Oaks Nature Center in Bolingbrook in 2022, which recently  | 
| 21 |  | reopened after a $2 million makeover, and he supervised  |
