| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Debra D. Lewis; and |
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis served in the U.S. Navy; she was a |
| 5 | | U.S. Training Commander and the events coordinator for all |
| 6 | | events at U.S. Navy Recruitment Training Command; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was a licensed practical nurse and |
| 8 | | was trained on a variety of health education topics, including |
| 9 | | as a Certified CPR and Mental Health First Aid Instructor and a |
| 10 | | Narcan Educator; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was the community education point of |
| 12 | | contact for the Northern Illinois Recovery Community |
| 13 | | Organization (NIRCO); she also served as NIRCO's program |
| 14 | | manager and was responsible for overseeing various programs |
| 15 | | that served the needs of the community; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was the board chairperson of the |
| 17 | | North Chicago Fire and Police Commission, the secretary for |
| 18 | | the Lake County Chapter of the NAACP, and a Lean Six Sigma |
| 19 | | Green Belt; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis had a master's degree in human |

| 1 | | resource development and numerous other management |
| 2 | | credentials; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was a founding member of the Dove |
| 4 | | Mentorship program and served as the project coordinator for |
| 5 | | the Lake County ROSC Council, which provides overarching |
| 6 | | recovery support services in Lake County; and |
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis held a career of service and |
| 8 | | commitment to the United States Navy and the Lake County |
| 9 | | community that extended to more than 20 years; she was truly a |
| 10 | | woman of integrity and outstanding character; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Debra Lewis felt that her greatest accomplishment |
| 12 | | was her family, her son, Aaron, her daughter-in-law, |
| 13 | | Elizabeth, and her grandchildren; therefore, be it |
| 14 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 15 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 16 | | Debra D. Lewis and extend our sincere condolences to her |
| 17 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
| 18 | | further |
| 19 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 | | presented to the family of Debra Lewis as an expression of our |
| 21 | | deepest sympathy. |
