SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Debra D. Lewis; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis served in the U.S. Navy; she was a
5U.S. Training Commander and the events coordinator for all
6events at U.S. Navy Recruitment Training Command; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was a licensed practical nurse and
8was trained on a variety of health education topics, including
9as a Certified CPR and Mental Health First Aid Instructor and a
10Narcan Educator; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was the community education point of
12contact for the Northern Illinois Recovery Community
13Organization (NIRCO); she also served as NIRCO's program
14manager and was responsible for overseeing various programs
15that served the needs of the community; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was the board chairperson of the
17North Chicago Fire and Police Commission, the secretary for
18the Lake County Chapter of the NAACP, and a Lean Six Sigma
19Green Belt; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis had a master's degree in human

1resource development and numerous other management
2credentials; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis was a founding member of the Dove
4Mentorship program and served as the project coordinator for
5the Lake County ROSC Council, which provides overarching
6recovery support services in Lake County; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis held a career of service and
8commitment to the United States Navy and the Lake County
9community that extended to more than 20 years; she was truly a
10woman of integrity and outstanding character; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Debra Lewis felt that her greatest accomplishment
12was her family, her son, Aaron, her daughter-in-law,
13Elizabeth, and her grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Debra D. Lewis and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Debra Lewis as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
