SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Amy Rae Gudgel of Pawnee, who passed
4away on May 16, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel, the daughter of Steve L. and Anida R.
6Ellis Riney, was born in Keokuk, Iowa on October 15, 1971; she
7graduated from Lanphier High School in Springfield in 1989;
8she married Steven E. "Steve" Gudgel at St. Benedict's Church
9in Auburn on July 13, 1996; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel worked as a dispatcher for the
11Sangamon County Sheriff's Office for five years and then in
12management at the Corporation Service Company (CSC) in
13Springfield for 26 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel enjoyed taking trips to Mexico and
15riding in her Bronco with the top off; she always loved having
16fun, including relaxing in a pool, playing poker with family
17and friends, and spending time with those she loved; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel was preceded in death by her father
19and her niece, Megan Sheppard; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Amy Gudgel is survived by her husband of 28

1years, Steve; her daughter, Hannah N. (Evan Mahan) Gudgel; her
2mother; her siblings, Steve Riney, Jamie Riney, and Lisa
3(Jamie) Flynn; her in-laws, Butch Gudgel, Connie Gudgel,
4Michael (Tonya) Gudgel, Tracy (Scott) Sheppard, and Melissa
5(Tom) Williams; several nieces and nephews; and her granddog,
6Rex; therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Amy Rae Gudgel and extend our sincere condolences to her
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Amy Gudgel as an expression of our
14deepest sympathy.
