SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gary Lee Lane of Spaulding, who passed
4away on May 6, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gary Lane, the son of Allen Lane Sr. and Marjorie
6"Marge" (Bunch) Lane, was born in Springfield on June 16,
71963; he graduated from Lanphier High School in 1981; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Gary Lane, following in the footsteps of his
9father and uncle, became a member of Iron Workers Union Local
1046; at the time of his passing, he was working as
11transportation supervisor for Riverton Community Unit School
12District #14, where he was proud to be a Riverton Hawk; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gary Lane was always eager to support the
14community that gave back to him, serving as a volunteer with
15the local Habitat for Humanity organization for many years; he
16also took his children on church mission trips to keep them
17humble; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gary Lane was an avid fan of dirt racing, and he
19was always ready to go to the track with his daughters and
20friends to cheer on his favorite drivers; and

1    WHEREAS, Gary Lane, who was affectionately known as "Papa
2G" to his bonus grandchildren, loved spending time with his
3family and friends; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Gary Lane was preceded in death by his parents
5and his brother, U.S. Army PFC Robert "Bob" Lane; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Gary Lane is survived by his ex-wife and the
7mother of his children, Brenda (Dalton) Lane; his daughters,
8Mary Lane and Brittany Lane; his bonus children through Joy
9Painter, Katy (Josh) West and Ryan (Heather) Painter; five
10bonus grandchildren; his siblings, Allen "AP" Lane Jr., Mary
11Sexton, and Janet Hutchens-Gooden; and many nieces and
12nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Gary Lee Lane and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Gary Lane as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
