SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Catherine "Katie" Kronmiller Huther,
4formerly of Springfield, who passed away on April 16, 2025;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Katie Huther was born on August 17, 1934; she was
7raised in Utica, New York; she earned a degree in American
8studies at the University of Rochester in New York; she
9married John Huther, and together they relocated to California
10and Washington through the U.S. Navy and pursued jobs and
11educational pursuits in New York, Michigan, and North Carolina
12before settling in Springfield, Illinois in 1973; they later
13relocated to Seattle, Washington in 2015; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Katie Huther held a variety of jobs, culminating
15in her serving as the assistant for community relations at
16Springfield Public Schools for ten years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Katie Huther's strong commitment to civic
18engagement led to her involvement with numerous organizations,
19including the Illinois Environmental Council, the League of
20Women Voters, and the PTA; in her later years, she served on
21the boards of the Lincoln Memorial Garden, the Illinois
22Symphony Orchestra, the World Affairs Council of Central

1Illinois, and others; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Katie Huther enjoyed being social with her
3gourmet dinner groups, the Anti-Rust Club, her book club, and
4her bridge club; she also loved traveling with her husband and
5other family members to her family's old homestead in
6Woodgate, New York each summer; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Katie Huther always welcomed friends and family
8with food and entertainment, leaving them with lasting
9memories; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Katie Huther is survived by her husband, John;
11her children, Jeff, Eric, and Melissa; her sister, Jane; and
12six grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Catherine "Katie" Kronmiller Huther and extend our sincere
16condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Katie Huther as an expression of our
20deepest sympathy.
