| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Catherine "Katie" Kronmiller Huther, |
| 4 | | formerly of Springfield, who passed away on April 16, 2025; |
| 5 | | and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Katie Huther was born on August 17, 1934; she was |
| 7 | | raised in Utica, New York; she earned a degree in American |
| 8 | | studies at the University of Rochester in New York; she |
| 9 | | married John Huther, and together they relocated to California |
| 10 | | and Washington through the U.S. Navy and pursued jobs and |
| 11 | | educational pursuits in New York, Michigan, and North Carolina |
| 12 | | before settling in Springfield, Illinois in 1973; they later |
| 13 | | relocated to Seattle, Washington in 2015; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Katie Huther held a variety of jobs, culminating |
| 15 | | in her serving as the assistant for community relations at |
| 16 | | Springfield Public Schools for ten years; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Katie Huther's strong commitment to civic |
| 18 | | engagement led to her involvement with numerous organizations, |
| 19 | | including the Illinois Environmental Council, the League of |
| 20 | | Women Voters, and the PTA; in her later years, she served on |
| 21 | | the boards of the Lincoln Memorial Garden, the Illinois |
| 22 | | Symphony Orchestra, the World Affairs Council of Central |
