| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | congratulate HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham |
| 4 | | on the occasion of marking 150 years of service; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital originated |
| 6 | | when Sisters Euphemia Gaertner, Fortunata Honkamp, and |
| 7 | | Franziska Dreisvogt of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis |
| 8 | | arrived in Effingham on November 15, 1875, where they began |
| 9 | | serving the poor and the sick; their efforts led to the opening |
| 10 | | of St. Anthony's Hospital on September 15, 1877, and the |
| 11 | | hospital was later renamed St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in |
| 12 | | 1954; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, an |
| 14 | | affiliate of the Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS), is a |
| 15 | | fully accredited, not-for-profit, general acute care health |
| 16 | | facility today; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital has 133 |
| 18 | | licensed beds and a workforce of more than 700 employees, and |
| 19 | | its medical staff represents more than 70 local physician |
| 20 | | providers in 26 specialties and includes over 80 consulting |
| 21 | | physicians; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital primarily |
| 2 | | provides services to Effingham County and Jasper County along |
| 3 | | with portions of Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Fayette, |
| 4 | | Marion, Richland, and Shelby Counties, serving a population of |
| 5 | | almost 200,000 people; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, For more than 150 years, HSHS St. Anthony's |
| 7 | | Memorial Hospital has approached administering healthcare to |
| 8 | | its patients by combining compassion and the human touch, and |
| 9 | | the hospital continues to do so while also providing patients |
| 10 | | with the most modern technologies available today; therefore, |
| 11 | | be it
|
| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate HSHS |
| 14 | | St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital on celebrating its 150th |
| 15 | | anniversary, and we thank its staff for continuing to serve |
| 16 | | with courage, commitment, and faith; and be it further
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 18 | | presented to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital as an |
| 19 | | expression of our esteem and respect. |
