SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to
3congratulate Mayor Diane Marlin of the City of Urbana on the
4occasion of her retirement; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mayor Marlin graduated from the University of
6Illinois Urbana-Champaign; she remained a resident of Urbana,
7where she found her husband, raised a family, and explored
8professional endeavors; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mayor Marlin, after tenures working at Parkland
10College and the University of Illinois, pursued her love of
11volunteering, which landed her on the Urbana City Council; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Mayor Marlin was first elected as Mayor of Urbana
13in 2017; during her eight-year tenure, she responsibly served
14her community through several city developments and the
15COVID-19 pandemic years while overseeing progress being made
16in equity, accessibility, and business development; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Mayor Marlin has proudly served as mayor in a
18city where its people are known for their strong environmental
19ethics, appreciation of others, openness to newcomers and
20immigrants, and respect of parks and education system; and

1    WHEREAS, Mayor Marlin has expressed looking forward to
2traveling and spending time with her family in retirement;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mayor
6Diane Marlin of the City of Urbana on her retirement, and we
7thank her for her dedication and commitment to the residents
8of Urbana; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Mayor Marlin as an expression of our esteem and
11respect.
