SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kurt "Ohlly" Oehlwein of Canton, who
4passed away on April 16, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Kurt Oehlwein was born to Lon Oehlwein and Glenda
6(Sides) Aellig in Peoria on September 11, 1972; he was raised
7in Germantown Hills, and he graduated from Metamora Township
8High School in 1990; he served in the U.S. Air Force in the
9Middle East during Operation Desert Shield/Storm; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kurt Oehlwein worked many jobs throughout his
11life, including as a certified Harley Davidson technician; he
12also worked in construction and restaurant management, and he
13held various sales and service positions; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kurt Oehlwein was passionate about the outdoors,
15Harley Davidson motorcycles, and classic cars, including
16displaying his classic trucks at car shows; he was an
17excellent cook who loved to prepare old-fashioned, churn-style
18ice cream for friends and family on warm summer nights; he
19adopted several senior dogs and lovingly cared for them in
20their final years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Kurt Oehlwein's kindness and generosity were

1evident to all who knew him, and he always put his family and
2chosen family first; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kurt Oehlwein was preceded in death by his
4father; his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Gertrude
5Oehlwein; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Evelyn
6Sides; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Kurt Oehlwein is survived by his former wife,
8Jaime Lynch; his mother; his stepfather, Fred Aellig; his
9sisters, Loni, Sara, Jenny, and Andy; two nieces and one
10nephew; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Kurt "Ohlly" Oehlwein and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Kurt Oehlwein as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
