SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Kenneth "Ken" Kaiser of Taylor Ridge,
4who passed away on April 3, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ken Kaiser was born to Elmer and Grace Kaiser on
6June 30, 1930 and grew up in Moline near Wharton Field House;
7he graduated from Moline High School in 1949; he served with
8the National Guard 223rd field artillery for five years as a
9mess sergeant and attended regular army school in Fort
10Sheridan; he married Carol Irene in Chicago on April 10, 1954;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ken Kaiser's work ethic started young with one of
13his first jobs delivering coal before and after school in a
14wheelbarrow; his first real job was at the original Whitey's
15Ice Cream, and his early career included being a lineman for
16Iowa Illinois Gas & Electric (MidAmerican Energy) until he
17moved to the country to help his family in a new business,
18Edgington Food and Locker, which he and his family owned and
19operated for 45 years; he treasured those years and always
20talked about how welcoming the community was to him and how he
21valued his many customers and the friends he met; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Ken Kaiser loved to strike up a conversation with

1strangers, and he was always very noticeable in one of his many
2hats; he loved his children, grandchild, and
3great-grandchildren and always had a stash of new presents for
4when they came to visit; he appreciated his Edgington
5Evangelical Presbyterian Church family and enjoyed having
6lunch with several of them and a friend each Sunday; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Ken Kaiser was a member of the Masonic Lodge 23rd
8degree; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Ken Kaiser was preceded in death by his wife of 67
10years, Carol; his parents; his brothers, Richard Kaiser and
11Kay Kaiser; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Kaiser; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Ken Kaiser is survived by his children, Ken
13Kaiser and Karrie (Wyatt) Fuhr; his grandchild, Tia Fuhr (Wes
14Steele); his great-grandsons, Arlo and Hank; and numerous
15in-laws, nieces, and nephews; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Kenneth "Ken" Kaiser and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
