SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of William Bruce "Bill" West Sr. of Hanna
4City, who passed away on April 1, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bill West was born in Logan Township, Peoria
6County to George W. and Fama Jane (Donaldson) West on June 22,
71934; he graduated from Farmington High School and the
8University of Illinois, where he received his bachelor's
9degree in agriculture and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho
10Fraternity; following college, he served in the United States
11Army and was stationed in Germany; he married Arlene Shaddock
12in Moweaqua on July 1, 1956; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Bill West was a lifelong farmer; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Bill West was an active member of the Hanna City
15Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder; he
16volunteered as a chaplain at Methodist Hospital and served on
17the school board for Farmington East High School and as a
18trustee for Logan Township; he was also a member of the Peoria
19County Pork Producers and Farm Bureau; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bill West was preceded in death by his parents;
21his son, Robert "Rob"; and his sister, Helen Doubet; and

1    WHEREAS, Bill West is survived by his wife, Arlene; his
2children, W. Bruce (Julie) West and Jeffery (Tracy) West; his
3grandchildren, Callie (Levi) Allen, Paul (Amanda) West,
4Victoria (Andrew) Wells, and Elizabeth West; his
5great-grandchildren, Ben and Emilia Allen and Evelyn and Lucy
6West, with Baby Wells on the way; his niece, Jane (Ed) Fussner;
7and his nephew, David (Debby) Doubet; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10William Bruce "Bill" West Sr. and extend our sincere
11condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
12him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bill West as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
