SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of John A. Guynn of Massac County, who
4passed away on January 15, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Guynn was born to Rev. Julius Earl and
6Agatha "Peggy" (Terry) Guynn; he served his country in the
7United States Army 101st Airborne as a specialist 4 during the
8Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Guynn retired from Riverwood International
10in Kankakee; and
 
11    WHEREAS, John Guynn was a member of the Machinists Union,
12the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Waldo Baptist Church, where
13he served as a deacon; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Guynn was preceded in death by his wife,
15Joyce Guynn; his parents; his grandchild, Jamie Riley Guynn;
16and his siblings, James "Jimmy" Guynn, Jean Steen, Bill Guynn,
17and Patsy Murphy; and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Guynn is survived by his children, Thomas
19Guynn, Matthew (Janie) Guynn, and Samantha (Jeff) Lillard; his
20grandchildren, John Alexander, Kierstan, Kylie, Kaden, Deacon,

1and Wrigley; his siblings, Peggy Irwin, Benny (Barbara) Guynn,
2Gale "Doc" Guynn, Joan Witham, Karen (Cliff) Perzee, and Margo
3Wiley; and several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6John A. Guynn and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of John Guynn as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
