SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jack Dale Glass of Metropolis, who
4passed away on January 20, 2025; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Glass was born to Dale and Audrey Glass in
6Metropolis on September 16, 1948; he attended Metropolis High
7School; he also attended Paducah Junior College and Murray
8State University, both in Kentucky; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Glass, throughout college and beyond, worked
10as an ironworker; during his career, he helped construct the
11Interstate 24 (I-24) Bridge; he later worked as a job
12superintendent at B&W Construction Co. for the Northern U.S.
13before he took a position as a maintenance supervisor at
14Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC) in Marion, a
15position he held for more than 40 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Glass was a man of faith and a member of
17Heartland Church in Paducah, Kentucky, where he was a part of
18The Dwelling Sunday School; he and his wife, Cheryl, traveled
19internationally, including several trips to Indonesia to visit
20their son and his family, who are missionaries there; he also
21participated in a mission trip to Mexico in recent years; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Glass was a man of many talents, including
2being an excellent craftsman who built his home, along with
3his barn and garage, in 1982; his chosen sport was baseball,
4and he played with the Murray State University baseball team,
5the Breds, and coached his sons throughout their high school
6years; he also enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks and going
7quail hunting, especially in the company of friends and
8alongside his dogs, Scout and Finn; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Jack Glass was a devoted family man, and his
10family was the center of his life; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jack Glass was preceded in death by his parents;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jack Glass, at the time of his passing, was
14survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl Wyatt Glass; his
15daughter, Candice E. (Jimmy) Martin; his twin sons, Marcus D.
16(Leslie) Glass and Matthew W. (Amanda) Glass; eight
17grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three
18step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and his
19siblings, Lavonne Goins and Dan (Christie) Glass; therefore,
20be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of

1Jack Dale Glass and extend our sincere condolences to his
2family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it

4    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
5presented to the family of Jack Glass as an expression of our
