| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Jack Dale Glass of Metropolis, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on January 20, 2025; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass was born to Dale and Audrey Glass in | ||||||
| 6 | Metropolis on September 16, 1948; he attended Metropolis High | ||||||
| 7 | School; he also attended Paducah Junior College and Murray | ||||||
| 8 | State University, both in Kentucky; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass, throughout college and beyond, worked | ||||||
| 10 | as an ironworker; during his career, he helped construct the | ||||||
| 11 | Interstate 24 (I-24) Bridge; he later worked as a job | ||||||
| 12 | superintendent at B&W Construction Co. for the Northern U.S. | ||||||
| 13 | before he took a position as a maintenance supervisor at | ||||||
| 14 | Southern Illinois Power Cooperative (SIPC) in Marion, a | ||||||
| 15 | position he held for more than 40 years; and | ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass was a man of faith and a member of | ||||||
| 17 | Heartland Church in Paducah, Kentucky, where he was a part of | ||||||
| 18 | The Dwelling Sunday School; he and his wife, Cheryl, traveled | ||||||
| 19 | internationally, including several trips to Indonesia to visit | ||||||
| 20 | their son and his family, who are missionaries there; he also | ||||||
| 21 | participated in a mission trip to Mexico in recent years; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass was a man of many talents, including | ||||||
| 2 | being an excellent craftsman who built his home, along with | ||||||
| 3 | his barn and garage, in 1982; his chosen sport was baseball, | ||||||
| 4 | and he played with the Murray State University baseball team, | ||||||
| 5 | the Breds, and coached his sons throughout their high school | ||||||
| 6 | years; he also enjoyed restoring old cars and trucks and going | ||||||
| 7 | quail hunting, especially in the company of friends and | ||||||
| 8 | alongside his dogs, Scout and Finn; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass was a devoted family man, and his | ||||||
| 10 | family was the center of his life; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 12 | and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Jack Glass, at the time of his passing, was | ||||||
| 14 | survived by his wife of 52 years, Cheryl Wyatt Glass; his | ||||||
| 15 | daughter, Candice E. (Jimmy) Martin; his twin sons, Marcus D. | ||||||
| 16 | (Leslie) Glass and Matthew W. (Amanda) Glass; eight | ||||||
| 17 | grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three | ||||||
| 18 | step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and his | ||||||
| 19 | siblings, Lavonne Goins and Dan (Christie) Glass; therefore, | ||||||
| 20 | be it | ||||||
| 21 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 22 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||

| 1 | Jack Dale Glass and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 2 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
