SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Deputy Christina M. Musil of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department, who was killed in the line of duty on March 29, 2024; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil was born on August 17, 1988; she served in the U.S. Army as a military police officer in the National Guard for four years and through a tour of Afghanistan from 2008 to 2009; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil was a dedicated servant to her community and a respected deputy of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department who was noted for her unwavering commitment to the well-being of others; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil had a fervent love for sports, rooting passionately for the New York Yankees and the New Jersey Devils, but she was especially a fan of any sporting events involving her children; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil, affectionately called "Beana", was a beacon of joy and resilience who left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved her; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil was known for her magnetic personality, laughter, and selfless spirit, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, bravery, love, and humor; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Musil was the mother of Zoe Musil, Genevieve Musil, and Cillin Musil; the daughter of Philip and Diane Caporaso; the sister of Bridgette and Anthony Caporaso; a niece, cousin, and friend to many; and a caring companion to beloved Skiba; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Deputy Christina M. Musil of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Deputy Musil as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
